A Place of Greater Safety

An English-language hopepunk Nordic LARP about queer identity, healing and community, set in a dystopian future where a group of outsiders has escaped an oppressive society to build a safe place together.

Fifty years into the future, queer identities have been erased from public language and anyone who does not conform to strict social expectations faces poverty, surveillance, conversion therapy or imprisonment.

The characters have escaped the city and reached a remote safehouse where they are attempting to build a new community. They must learn how to trust one another, heal from the society they left behind and avoid recreating the same structures of power and oppression.

A Place of Greater Safety is a character-driven hopepunk Nordic LARP about healing, identity, relationships, community and radical kindness. The game takes place across five symbolic seasons, representing different stages in the development of the community and the characters’ emotional journeys.

Participants receive personalised pre-written characters and relationships based on their preferred identities, themes and styles of play. There is no predefined external plot or threat to defeat: the focus is on interpersonal drama, transformation and finding a hopeful way forward.

The event is played in English and includes accommodation and vegetarian meals at Hareskovshytten, near Copenhagen.
