Dark and Lonely Water

DARK and LONELY WATER- December 2026

Dark and Lonely Water is a horror live action roleplaying game for 12 participants inspired by Scottish history, myths and legends, as well as works of isolation horror such as The Thing, The Terror and Annihilation.

This is a collaboration between Coffin Roads LRP and Clarion LARP Productions.

SETTING: the year is 1996, the location is Scotland, UK. We will begin in the city of Glasgow, and travel together into the Highlands.

HORROR is a central theme of this game. There will be creepy sights & sounds, discussion of death & torture, fear for your (character's) life, and all of the negative emotions associated with the possibility of meeting a nasty end in the cold dark isolation of the Scottish wilderness.

HILLWALKING is a central part of this game. There will be a guided hike through some of Great Britain’s most spectacular scenery, with an ascent of the Munro Beinn Na Lap if conditions permit. Participants are responsible for bringing suitable hiking equipment, as per the list provided by game organisers. 

ACCESSIBILITY is an important part of Clarion LARP’s mission statement. As such we are planning a second run of Dark and Lonely Water for 2027 in which we will prioritise an accessible location and gameplay. Unlike previous games, we are not running both games at the same time. This is because the accessible run will require significant changes to gameplay and involve different metatechniques and innovative blackbox scenes.
