Welcome to Whisper Bay
A Nordic-style larp inspired by Twin Peaks
Dates: 7-10 May 2026
 Location: Pulborough, near London, UK
Cost: 200-500 GBP

Welcome to Whisper Bay is a Nordic-style larp about mysteries in a village community in the early 1990s. It is strongly inspired by Twin Peaks, The X-Files, Stranger ThingsFargo, and stories from the quaint British countryside.

Setting

The larp is set in the small Cornish village of Whisper Bay in the early 1990s, just before the collapse of the Soviet Union. The village was a prosperous tin mining settlement but the local mine has closed operations three years prior. The village now survives mostly through tourism. A local landowner has applied for planning permission to build a holiday park adjacent to the village and its sandy beach, and has invited potential investors to experience the village’s summer fête for the weekend. The settlement is also home to a GCHQ Listening Station, a government facility for monitoring communications.

Where

The venue consists of several unusually-decorated houses in a picturesque rural area. The address is House on the Brooks, Hardham Mill, Hardham RH20 1LA.

The venue is 30 min walk (or 5 min car ride) from Pulborough train station -- there are taxis available. Pulborough is connected to Gatwick Airport with a direct train, which takes 40 min. It is also possible to get there from other London airports by public transport within 2h30min.

If you want to drive to the venue, there will be parking spaces available.

When

The larp will run on 7-10 May 2026.

The larp will start at 2pm on 7 May; all participants must be at the venue by then. We will have a few of hours of briefings and workshops, and will time-in after dinner. The play will continue until early evening on the third day. After time-out around 5pm, we will have an optional debrief, and then an afterparty - but you can leave directly after time-out if you prefer. The participants need to leave the venue by 10am on 10 May.

VENUE

The venue provides hotel-quality accommodation. There will be comfortable beds with bed linens and towels provided. Most bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with hot water.

There are both double and single beds. We encourage people to sleep in-game, which would mean e.g. sharing a bed with an in-game spouse, or sharing a twin bedroom with a friend or a sibling. However, off-game sleeping will be possible. You will be able to communicate your sleeping preferences to us closer to the larp.

Sadly, the venue is not wheelchair-accessible. Please contact us about any other accessibility questions.

Costume

Most characters will be wearing casual 90s clothes: you need to bring your own costume. When on duty, the law enforcement characters would be wearing uniform; we will provide you with some appropriate accessories that you will need to pair with a white shirt and black trousers.

FOOD

The "village cafe" will be serving lunch and dinner prepared by organiser NPCs. It will be provided for free (even though in the fiction it's a business).

The venue consists of several buildings with their own kitchens, and we will stock each one with breakfast/sandwich ingredients as well as snacks. These will be available at all times.

We will cater to all dietary requirements that you communicate to us in the sign-up form.

We will provide a moderate amount of alcohol, but we expect the participants to not get drunk.

Tickets

The tickets are priced at:

  • Sponsor tickets: £500
  • Regular ticket: £400
  • Subsidised ticket: £300
  • Super-subsidised ticket: £200

By buying a sponsor ticket you make it possible for someone to get a subsidised ticket.
